Shared TDMA Satellite Service Options

TDMA Shared Satellite Service

This always on, reliable, two way, high speed satellite internet service offers a large Tier 1 internet backbone, directly from our Swedish teleport. Data rates are offered in a wide range, from an iDirect Technologies powered shared platform, as well as iSCPC service offered using the iDirect iNFINITI 5100 modem in a point to point configuration.

The iDirect powered D-TDMA shared platform was built from the ground up around IP usage, offering solutions to the faults of similar technologies. Armed with TDMA and dynamic slot allocation, it provides the most efficient use of satellite bandwidth.

  • TCP optimization over satellite
    • TCP Acceleration
    • Utilizes 3-Way Handshake acceleration for better HTTP performance
    • Includes local DNS caching resulting in an improved browsing experience
  • Quality of Service
    • Priorization based on IP addresses, port or protocol type
    • Class based queuing, assigns a percentage of bandwidth to each class
    • Rate limiting which allocates only the bandwidth that is needed
    • Committed Information Rate (CIR) that dedicates bandwidth as required
  • Reliability
    • First to implement Turbo Product Code (TPC) and Forward Error Correction (FEC)
    • 10-9 bit-error-rate (BER) guanteed
    • Uses approximately 50% less power (Eb/No) when compared to Reed-Solomon/Viterbi
    • Auto power adjusts to ensures reliable connectivity even in bad weather
  • Any TCP and IP application can and will work
    • Numerous optimization techniques have been implemented to ensure the minimal effects of the physical latency of a geosynchronous network
    • Voice (VoIP), Oracle, SAP, Citrix, Web, HTTP, SSL, e-mail, FTP, RTP, H.323, VPN and others have successfully been implemented
    • cRTP is incorporated to allow slight compression on by compressing the headers on the packets

Constellation's History with iDirect

Constellation Networks bought one of the first iDirect Hubs. We've been an iDirect Network Operator for over three years. We own and operate our own equipment, in our own teleport with space segment and backhaul services leased through providers directly. It is an important consideration to know who owns the teleport that the iDirect Hub is housed in, who owns the iDirect Hub itself and finally who purchases the bandwidth, backhaul and IP space (and from whom) needed to provide the services you plan to purchase and provide. Some companies offering services do actually manage their own network, while others just simply resell the services that are offered by established providers. If services are not purchased directly from a single company who owns and operates the teleport/hub, it could mean additional time to effectively troubleshoot, possibly downtime. It's important to have the facts before making a choice based on only one aspect of the whole picture.
